Above ground pool owners have the option to close down their pools during the cold months of the year. For this process we follow Crown Pools specific winterization instructions.
The steps for closing a pool for the winter season include:
Removing any debris / testing and rebalancing chemicals
Draining and sometimes removing the equipment (depending on the setup)
Draining the pool below the skimmer
Adding the specific winterization chemical regime*
Covering the pool for the season
Note: it is important that to cover the pool to protect it from any leaves or other debris accumulating on the pool's surface or floor during this time. Inclement weather can dilute the specific winterization chemical balance. Also a submersible pump would be necessary to keep the rainwater from accumulating on the pool cover.
The steps for reopening the pool for the summer season includes:
Reinstalling the equipment, if necessary
Allowing the pool to refill with water
Re-testing and rebalancing chemicals (these chemicals are included in your monthly maintenance)
Making adjustments to the equipment as necessary
Removing any debris
